Wendy Brown Horton


Wendy B. Horton represents clients in both Louisiana and Texas in multiple areas of law, including: trust and estate planning, tax law, state and federal securities law and compliance, corporate law, nonprofit law, succession and probate law, entity formation, corporate acquisitions and dispositions, closely held business law, and real estate law.

Representative Experience

  • Representation of clients in the preparation of wills, trusts, family limited partnerships or limited liability companies, and other instruments to implement estate plans to minimize estate taxes and accomplish goals
  • Creation and implementation of comprehensive estate planning strategies, such as special needs trusts, long-term care planning, family investment entities, estate freeze transactions, and charitable donation planning
  • Represented numerous businesses in entity formation, shareholder or member agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and owner disputes
  • Representation of clients in the formation of 501(c)(3) charitable organizations and foundations, including application for tax exempt status with Internal Revenue Service
  • Served as in-house counsel with multiple Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Served as lead outside compliance consultant with multiple RIAs registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Represented restaurant franchisee in acquisition, operation, and disposition of restaurants

Wendy earned her B.A., cum laude, from Tulane University in 2003. She earned her J.D., from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2006 and earned her LL.M. from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 2007.
